Jamie and I had so many dreams and hopes, one of them was for me to be able to take him to Minnesota to meet all of my friends and see the city that saved me.  Mora, MN is my safe haven, its a place I can go back to and not worry about anything else.  I returned to Mora months after Jamie passed away and I started looking for a place to call home and found a beautiful cabin on ten acres north of the city I loved so much.  In November 2012, I purchased the cabin and decided to name it the cabin of honor, filling it with memorabilia of Jamie's and giving it as a free vacation home to fellow Military families.

Giving the gift a freedom and tranquility to other families for a vacation is the least I can do, to me, seeing these families enjoy the outdoors, love one another is something that the girls and I will never be able to do with Jamie physically. You can say I feel as if Jamie lives on through these families by the love I see they give to one another and to me knowing that he is able to still be known and people can still speak his name is the best gift anyone could ever give.

Bought a Cabin for Free Vacations for Military Families in Minnesota
November 18, 2012 in Minnesota
Melissa Jarboe, the wife of Army Staff Sgt. Jamie Jarboe of Frankfort, has purchased a cabin in northern Minnesota for armed forces families.

Melissa says she and her husband would talk about buying a cabin in Minnesota and since Jamie never made it to the cabin, Melissa decided to offer it to others.

The cabin is free of charge to soldiers' families.

"It's his life insurance paying for people to do this, I'm just the one making it happen," Melissa said. "It's just a thankful thing. If he can give his life for our country, then I can live for our country and pick up where he left off."
